Hotel Punnya Laxmi in Diamond Harbour.

For a leisurely weekend or a super fast day out planned just in the morning Diamond Harbour is the best bet for many Kolkatans. This small town beside the Hoogly River offers serenity. Though there are not many options for children but a romantic outing for a couple or a Day out with family is fun here. This is around 45 KMs from kolkata and lies near to where Hoogly River meets the Bay Of Bengal.

This Place is reachable By Bus, Trains, Cars. Daily several buses (Both Ac and Non AC ) ply to and fro  from Kolkata to Diamond Harbour so getting there is not  much of a trouble. Plenty of Hotels are there but only few are of Good Quality Like Hotel Punnya Laxmi , Sagarika, Ganga etc others are small and mediocre.

The property of my choice would be either Sagarika ( Run by Govt) or Hotel Punnyalaxmi. Punnyalaxmi Hotel name may sound a bit queer but after reaching its gate your thoughts are going to vanish and the scene will fill you with a sense of joy. Asthetically designed Lawns and sitting arrangements , smart , co-operative , cordial staff and the scenic beauty  will take away your breath. River Hoogly never seems so romantic if not seen during Sunrise and Sunset from the wooden cottages placed at one end of the Property.

Both Non veg and Veg foods are served and they have a lenient view on Alcohol being drunk on one of these cottages but you need to be sure of not disturbing the others while enjoying. The management also serves hard drinks on the premises.

Below are few pictures taken during my brief stay at the property.

For a livelihood. Catching shrimps under the blazing sun with scanty protection & no sunscreen lotion. A common man of Diamond Harbour region.
