I have images that I like. These are fond memories which always has a pleasant feeling associated with it. It would be rather harsh on my part to call one of them favorite among so many of those moments that made me appreciate the creation of god . All the moments that I have lived on this beautiful planet is a notable experience. With Pictures I have just tried in vain to immortalize the snapshots of life.Keeping a dated album of Pictures of life always serves as an interesting way of keeping oneself alive, and re-live this small life many times over. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, was one of the most important leaders for Indian Independence against the British colonial rule. He was born Subhas Chandra Bose but he is known to people as "Netaji" which means 'respected leader'. Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23rd, 1897. His Bengali family was affluent and lived in Cuttack, Orissa. His father, Janakinath Bose, was a member of Bengal Legislative Council. He was a public prosecutor. Subhas went to Raven Shaw Collegiate School in Cuttack. Then he entered Scottish Church College in Calcutta and also went to Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University. When Subhas took the Indian Civil Services entrance exam in 1920, he came in fourth with the highest marks in English. But his career in the Indian Civil Service was short lived as he resigned in April 1921 to become one of the driving forces of the Indian Independence Movement. Sati or Sahagamana is an ancient Indian custom by which a wife burnt herself on the funeral pyre with the corpse of her husband. By so immolating herself it is beleived that she removes all the sins of her family and secures merit for it as well. There are many early instansces of this custom which is mentioned even in Mahabharata, and during Rajput period it became common for a number of women to burn themselves on the pyre. Sometimes even concubines and queens of bad repute did so to free themselves from their sins. A Sati stone MAHASALIKKAL or MASTIKAL is a memorial stone set up over the place where a faithful wife had committed sati. Such stones show the hand of the sati decked in auspicious bangles suggestive of the fact that she is a woman with her husband alive i.e a sumangali and not a widow. The husband is sometimes shone above adoring the wife.
