Golfing Holidays In France

Image
With stunning surroundings and wonderful gastronomy really makes France a top destination for golfers and from Biarritz to Brittany, France can offer a great variety of uncrowded golf courses, which range from the novice to the more experienced golfer. In fact some of the very top rated courses in Europe can be found in France! In the South there is a terrific variety of golf courses plus the cuisine and temperate climate make this a great destination for all year round golfing holidays. Also, France is ideal for a golf break at any time of year, with courses in all regions of France and with around a hundred new golf courses having been built over the past few years, and over 500 in total, you certainly have plenty of choice! And although golf is a very popular past time in many countries, the game does not have the same popularity in France as it does in places like the United Kingdom, as they are more into sports such as cycling, and this is probably why you can still get to experie...

Eastern Chalukyas Emblem.

Image
Eastern Chalukyas were a South Indian dynasty whose kingdom was located in the present day Andhra Pradesh. Their capital was Vengi and their dynasty lasted for around 500 years from the 7th century until c. 1130 C.E. when the Vengi kingdom merged with the Chola empire. The Vengi kingdom was continued to be ruled by Eastern Chalukyan kings under the protection of the Chola empire until 1189 C.E., when the kingdom succumbed to the Hoysalas and the Yadavas. They had their capital originally at Vengi near Nidadavole of the West Godavari district end later changed to Rajamahendravaram (Rajamundry). Eastern Chalukyas were closely related to the Chalukyas of Vatapi (Badami). Throughout their history they were the cause of many wars between the more powerful Cholas and Western Chalukyas over the control of the strategic Vengi country. The five centuries of the Eastern Chalukya rule of Vengi saw not only the consolidation of this region into a unified whole, but also saw the efflorescence of T...

Universal temple at Chennai

Image
THE ABOVE TEMPLE IS THE OLD TEMPLE. BELOW ARE THE PICTURES OF THE NEW TEMPLES! IS IT NOT BEAUTIFUL? Swami Vivekananda on his triumphal return from the West was requested by the devotees in Madras (now Chennai) to start a Math here. To fulfil their earnest desire Swamiji sent his brother-disciple Swami Ramakrishnananda to Madras in March 1897 and thus Sri Ramakrishna Math,Madras, came into existence. After reaching Madras, the first thing Swami Ramakrishnananda did was to set up a small shrine for Sri Ramakrishna at a rented house. He lived there and led a life of renunciation service and austerities. Slowly he built up the institution as the present Sri Ramakrishna Math which is a hub of muiti-pronged service activities. This is the oldest centre of the Ramakrishna Order in the South.Sri Ramakrishna Math completed hundred years of its service in 1997. The shrine of Sri Ramakrishna set up in 1917 in the present Math was clearly too small to accommodate the growing number of devotees....

Digha Shankarpur development Authority

Image
Digha sea beach is a popular weekend retreat to thousands of tourists thronging the place almost every time of the year. There are in excess of 1000 small, big and medium sized hotels and there is DSDA ( Digha shankarpur development authority) who collects a fee from each tourist visiting the town in the name of betterment of the place and to make it more pleasant and safe. Sounds good but reality contradicts the theory. DSDA has failed miserably to make Digha a better tourist attraction . The main problem that one faces as a tourist in this other wise lovely place is a dirty sea beach. The sand of the beach as can be seen from the picture is so polluted from the debris originating from a varied number of sources like sewerage , littering by public and of course cremation of dead bodies on the guard wall of the . Though such a large scale of pollution is continuing daily there seems to be no effort on the part of the DSDA to arrest ot tackle the menace. The DSDA should relocate the cre...

My 2008 New year Resolution

SAY NO TO CANCEROUS CHINESE FOOD No, this is not my resolution of dieting. But my resolve of not becoming a cancer patient by consuming Chinese delicacies from eateries in India. In a shocking revelation from a reliable source its learnt that Ajina moto or Monosodium Glutamate which is a common ingredient of chinese food is supposed to be one of the main factors of cancer in people consuming them for over a period of time. A study on 134 cancer patients suffering from stomach cancer by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cancer Reaserch Institute has found that more than 50% of them had a history of consuming Chinese from the road side eateries that can be found everywhere in India. Why do these small and medium sized eateries use Ajina moto or Monosodium Glutamate inspite of it being banned by WHO ( World Health Organisation) way back in 2004? This substance enhances the taste of the food . Apart from enhancing the taste it also leads to stimulation which results in excessive secretion of ...

New Year's Resolutions For New Year 2008

One of the most common issues that are usually come across when New Year's is just around the corner is the New Year Resolution. What is a New Year's resolution? This may be the first question that may strike a kid's mind as soon as he or she will find adults talking about New Year's resolutions. Each year zillions of people come up with loads of New Year's resolutions but many of them are seen going unachieved. In this regards kids should be taught that promises should be given to be kept and never to be broken. Hence the immense importance of promises has to be given on New Year. Millions of New Year's resolutions ...

The sea port of Vizhinjam is about 3 km away and famous for its special varieties of fish, old Hindu temples, big churches and a mosque. The Proposed International Trans shipment Terminal at Vizhinjam is also close to Kovalam. Kovalam was among the most prominent tourist spots in India during the hippy era.
