New year 2008

Time has no divisions to mark its passage; there is never a thunderstorm or blare of trumpets to announce the beginning of a new month or year. Even when a new century begins it is only we mortals who ring bells and fire off pistols.New Year's eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.

Digha Shankarpur development Authority

Digha sea beach is a popular weekend retreat to thousands of tourists thronging the place almost every time of the year. There are in excess of 1000 small, big and medium sized hotels and there is DSDA ( Digha shankarpur development authority) who collects a fee from each tourist visiting the town in the name of betterment of the place and to make it more pleasant and safe. Sounds good but reality contradicts the theory. DSDA has failed miserably to make Digha a better tourist attraction .

The main problem that one faces as a tourist in this other wise lovely place is a dirty sea beach. The sand of the beach as can be seen from the picture is so polluted from the debris originating from a varied number of sources like sewerage , littering by public and of course cremation of dead bodies on the guard wall of the . Though such a large scale of pollution is continuing daily there seems to be no effort on the part of the DSDA to arrest ot tackle the menace. The DSDA should relocate the cre…

True crabs

The true crabs (Cancer, carcinus, Portumis, etc.) reach the highest degree of specialization among Crustacca. The cephalothorax is baroader than longer. Both the pairs of feelers are small. The antennules and the eye stalks are contained in sockets of the carapace. The third maxillipedes are flat and plate-like and cover the other mouth parts. The five pairs of thoracic legs are well-developed and clawed. The first legs are chelate, forming the large pinching claws, the remaining legs are non-chelate.The abdomen is very short with an uncalcified, soft sternal region. It is permanently bent under the cephalothorax, fitting into a groove in the thoracic sterna, thus remaining almost invisible in the dorsal view of the animal. The abdomen is narrower in male but somewhat broader in female. The pleopods are greatly reduced, the male retaining only two pairs of them, which serve as copulatory organs ; the female has four pairs for carrying the eggs. The uropods are usually absent. The yo…

Keeping Your Pooch Warm in Winters

For most pet lovers trying to envisage a moment of absolute contentment, the image of sitting in the wintry sunshine with their pet animal in their lap would probably come forth unbidden. For any pet lover, the word “warm cuddle” would evince the response “my pet” as the season for warm cuddles with our furry friends is round the corner. It seems that by some divine design our dogs and cats have been specially attired for this season. But nothing puts a bigger dampener on this season of cheer than a bout of cold, cough and sneezes. Some of us have an unfortunate tendency of believing that our pets don’t succumb to the vagaries of winter as easily as we do. The truth is that they need as much care to be able to return that warm cuddle. Following is a list of do’s and don’ts to help you give your pets the cold weather care they deserve.A) Pups are unable to handle extreme weather conditions so make sure they are always well covered. Pay special attention at night time as pups may fall as…

My Santa Is My Owner And She Lets Me Write Down My Wishes This Christmas

When I first heard Audrey Hepburn sing “These are a few of my favorite things” in the evergreen movie “ My fair Lady”, I never thought I’d have an occasion to present my own list some day. But you know what they say, “Every dog ahs his day”, and I got mine too. This Christmas, my dear owner in my eyes, is no less beautiful than Audrey. Hepburn herself, has asked me for a list of 10 things that I want. And God! I can’t wait to get started.

My 2008 New year Resolution

No, this is not my resolution of dieting. But my resolve of not becoming a cancer patient by consuming Chinese delicacies from eateries in India. In a shocking revelation from a reliable source its learnt that Ajina moto or Monosodium Glutamate which is a common ingredient of chinese food is supposed to be one of the main factors of cancer in people consuming them for over a period of time. A study on 134 cancer patients suffering from stomach cancer by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Cancer Reaserch Institute has found that more than 50% of them had a history of consuming Chinese from the road side eateries that can be found everywhere in India. Why do these small and medium sized eateries use Ajina moto or Monosodium Glutamate inspite of it being banned by WHO ( World Health Organisation) way back in 2004? This substance enhances the taste of the food . Apart from enhancing the taste it also leads to stimulation which results in excessive secretion of …

A shoping cart software that is a step ahead

In India average shopkeepers and small business do not use the internet efficiently to conduct their business. What they do in the name of web presence is make a static website and forget all about it.

The smaller sellers are not yet fluent in selling online mainly because of their inability to find an efficient yet reasonably priced e-commerce software solutions. People here in India have a general view that maintaining an online store is expensive, for it includes the development charges , maintenance charges and also online publicity expenses . In addition you have to be a software professional to successfully run and use an e-commerce software.

Now for those smaller dealers and traders , those who want a feasible ,economically viable e-commerce software or a shopping cart without knowing any computer language and also without a budget that touches something close to a fortune ,armed only with simple browsing knowledge, there is a good news. you can start your very own web based sho…
