My Trip of Dalma in Jamshedpur.

Dalma wild Life sanctuary is located just around 35 kms from the city of Jamshedpur in the Indian State of Jharkhand. The Sanctuary is located so close to a city but once you travel the dusty stretch of road to reach the entry point of the sanctuary you will be greeted with absolute pleasure of being with the nature . There are two guest houses here one on top of the trek and its a govt one and seldom you will get it vacant. The other option is the not so well serviced guest house at the check point. Here you will find decent rooms for around 300 Rs a day with water facility 24 hrs and the caretaker (Mama) will give you utensils and stove so you can cook your own food. When we were there a spanking new guest house was coming up, may be by this time its functioning already. The caretaker and the staff are very cordial and will offer you ride on back of the elephant, Its exactly not like a jungle safari but you can almost live amongst the (Kunki) elephants play with them ride on them and do a lots more to spend a quality weekend. Tourists can also stay in Jamshedpur and come here in the morning take a day long tour through the mystic forest and retire back at Jamshedpur accommodation.

Elephants on way to their routine exercises in the forest. Now its time for them to play.Eat,and do some obedience chores. This is the time if you cajole the caretaker he might allow you supervised ride on these animals bareback, just with a mahoot and without a 'Howda' sitting on the bare back of an elephant is a unique way to observe the forests and its life.
